This client was using a high-end accounting package that fulfilled its accounting function very well. However the program didn't facilitate the recording of the accumulation of the commodities the company traded. The management of that data was important and this function needed to be integrated with the accounting package.

The problem
The client was collecting beef cattle specifications from hundreds of abattoirs and needed to present the information on the Web (as well as catalogue it). A large number of the abattoirs did not have internet access and were heavily reliant on facsimile to send information. So the problem was how to transform handwritten information into a database and then post onto the Web while staying cost effective and efficient

Our relationship with this client started over two years ago and in that time we integrated a fax based handwriting recognition program with a database we designed for the bulk collection of faxed information from the abattoirs. We then facilitated the programs so that data could be uploaded to a web-based database for publication on the internet

OUR CLIENT WHO NEEDED TO FIX UNRELIABLE SOFTWARE.

The problem
This client had problems with the accounting package and the physical system which were not coping with the volume of work. With a large range of products and customers, they needed to record huge amounts of small transactions, putting considerable stress on the accounting package, computer hardware and operating system. The whole of the computer infrastructure was incorrectly configured and the system needed upgrading and fixing, and as a result they couldn't handle the load

· This client had been relying on its accounting software providers to maintain the computer systems as well. The client saw our marketing and decided to assess the whole system to arrive at a solution which would enable the accounting software to work.
· We analysed which components were not coping in the computer network and determined the underlying protocols which would enhance the performance of the accounting software. We upgraded the hardware and reconfigured the network operating system. We identified mechanisms which were causing instability and removed those weak areas.
